Somatic Coaching
Sustained transformation through the body, mind, and spirit
Do any of these feel familiar to you?
You’ve received feedback (external or internal) that your current patterns of behavior aren’t serving you, but they are resistant to your efforts to change them
You have a beautiful vision for how you want things to change, but something always seems to get in the way
You feel called to be of more service to the world, but you sometimes feel overwhelmed or unsure where to begin
Your health is getting your attention and you want new options for how to be in relationship with your body
Consider Somatic Coaching
Somatic Coaching is a “whole-system” process where we work directly with conditioned tendencies in our bodies, emotions, and relational patterns to create lasting transformation towards what we most care about and want to offer to the world.
How Somatic Coaching supports change
A foundational practice of somatic coaching is centering, where we feel our body in four dimensions—length, width, depth, and organizing principle. We do this to access our innate safety, dignity, and belonging and to be more present, open, connected, and on purpose.
At a high level, the benefits of somatic coaching are the same. Somatic Coaching can help you become more:
Present to yourself, others, your context, the natural world
Open to new options and curious to experiment
Connected, in touch with who and what you care about
On purpose, clear about what you are transforming toward and why it matters
Somatic Coaching might be a good fit if:
You’ve cultivated self-awareness through practices like coaching, therapy, or meditation, but you find you’re still hitting walls or having trouble changing behavior patterns.
You can recognize your patterns, where they came from, and why they aren’t working anymore, but you’re having trouble taking different actions.
You’re curious about somatics and/or coaching and are drawn to an approach that recognizes transformation is most effective when it happens simultaneously throughout the complete human system: body, mind, emotions, relationships, social context, spirit.
You’re interested in cultivating a deeper relationship with your physical, emotional, and energetic body. This might look like: new or chronic health issues, numbness or tendency to push past cues and regret it later, a desire to connect with your intuition and deepen self-trust.
What does a Somatic Coaching session look like?
Our first few sessions will be spent establishing a declaration, something you long for—at work, in relationships, in life. Somatic coaching recognizes that we are constantly evolving and changing; a declaration clarifies what you want to change towards.
Each session includes talking in a non-directive coaching style, where I mostly ask questions, reflect back, and make observations or offer alternative context. With a focus on strengthening your own intuition and discernment, my goal is to be guided by what is most alive for you in the moment.
In a departure from more “thought-based” coaching, we will spend a lot of time noticing body sensations and strengthening your attunement and vocabulary around those sensations, in service of creating more choice in how you respond in day-to-day life.
Most sessions will also include specific practices, either designed by the Strozzi Institute or intuitively co-created in the moment, to deepen body awareness, connect ideas to physical movement or capacity, or otherwise integrate more intellectual learnings into a whole-system wisdom.
We often end by co-creating a practice you can engage with while we are between sessions. While new awareness or insights often come up during sessions, it is through repeated physical practice that we embody those shifts as lasting change in our lives.
Why am I offering Somatic Coaching?
My body has always been a huge teacher, but for the first half of my life, I refused to listen because the messages it sent me were often uncomfortable: chronic undiagnosable stomach issues, anxiety and panic attacks, near-constant self-criticism and second-guessing of my instincts.
I’m so grateful I found 7Directions Dance Ceremony in my late 20s and Staci Boden, it’s spiritual mama, who also taught me to clean up my relationship with my body and the energy running through it. In large part because of the transformation I saw in my own life—a deep trust in my intuition, a strong connection to my body and its knowledge, healthier boundary setting and stronger relationships, the end of panic attacks and anxiety—I have dedicated myself to supporting others in re-integrating the information from their entire soma.
In 2018 I became a facilitator of 7Directions (still my most regular spiritual, energetic, physical practice) and in 2022 was also trained by Staci as a somatic energy guide for the transformational path contained in her book Turning Dead Ends Into Doorways. That led to my offering Following Energy Leadership Training for the last 3 years, which includes embodied practices, along with guided visualizations.
In 2024 I completed a 6-month Somatic Coaching training, The Power of Embodied Transformation, offered by the Strozzi Institute through Coaches Rising. I also work with my own somatic coach (I never ask clients to go anywhere I haven’t journeyed myself!), as well as a supervising master coach. Although I’m early earlier on my Somatic Coaching journey, it’s such powerful work that I’m offering it immediately, at a discount, while leaning into my years of related training and work with the physical, energetic, and emotional bodies.
